I heard that for one reason or another ddr3 1600 w/ core i7 is limited to one dimm per channel. I've also heard many people claim that it was a non-issue, and most drr31600 will function just fine with 2 dimms/channel. I was wondering if anyone knew first hand what the real deal was? Why there is such a limitation, and is it really not that big of an issue? Also, if it is an issue, what happens if you overclock your 1600s high than that, issue solved?

I have the same exact question. I am in the middle of my build and still purchasing product but did buy 12Gigs of Domminator 1600 for an ASUS P6T6 WS Revolution MB and I am wondering if I should just run 6Gigs of the fast ram or return it for 12Gigs of slower ram

I am reading there are some differences with the 920 chip than the 965 which I will be purchasing but hopefully someone with insight will answer your very well put question

Dr Phil,
After getting no response on Tom's (which is very odd) I decided just to buy the addition 6 gigs and try it out. I am also running the Asus p6t and and 920 i7 and have found that there are no problems at all. The guy at Fry's that help me said that he thought it was only the couple of add AMD board with ddr3 support, or other lower-end i7 boards that really had any issues.

I'm running 12 gigs of Dominator DDR3-1600 CAS 7 (it's rated at CAS 8, but it runs at 7 just fine), and the only change between 6 and 12 gigs was that I had to up the qpi/dram voltage from 1.27 to 1.32. It's been running flawlessly for 8 months now, and I haven't had a single issue.
