How do I restore factory settings on an Acer laptop with Windows 7?

Hello, my son forgot his password for his laptop. He has an Acer with Windows 7. Does anyone know how to restore the computer to factory settings? I was told that is what we needed to do in order to log back on.

look i dont know what iam doing iam on a hp labtop and i got my usb cord to my acer aspire 1one and it only way i can restore it i forgot my password so i need to restore it right
