A 160 gig drive to old pentium 3 pc

Can I install a 160 gig hard drive to a pentium 3 pc?

SATA or PATA?
PATA should be no problem.
SATA will need an PCI addin card to work.

it's PATA I think. I have this controller card to connect one or more hard drives or cd rom drives. It doesn't work because it's unable to read the hard drive. I tried directly to the motherboard, still the same result. I checked the jumper on the drive and it's correct. I tried everything I can think of. Any ideas are welcome, thanks and have a great day!

Connect it to the motherboard with the IDE cable.
Give it power with a molex.
Check the bios. Enable the IDE channel if necessary.
If this doesn't work, try it in another computer.

I have tried the cable to the motherboard, it didn't work. Um.. give it power with a molex? I'm learning pc building and I never heard of "molex", sorry.
I'll check the bios and check the drive with another pc and go from there. Thanks again

Molex... A 4 pin power cable coming from your psu usually.
