Will be upgrading to Vista 64 shortly.
- ECS GF8200A Mobo (with onboard video - Nvidia GeForce 8200 with HDMI out)
......The onboard video is actually doing OK but I want MORE POWER!!
......Onboard is handling HD Video without a problem but I WANT FASTER VIDEO and PHOTO PROCESSING!
- AMD X2 6000 Dual Core 3ghz - 2mb L2
- 4 gb G.Skill DDR2 1000 (will be going to 8gb when I upgrade to Vista 64)
- Dual 17 monitors but only 1280x1024
- Looking to upgrade to a 24" with 1680 x 1050 and the 17"
- Running mainly Adobe CS3 100% RAW images(Photoshop, Illustrator, etc...).
- Pinnacle Studio 11 Ultimate analog video for now but I want to begin using HD
- About 85% of my need comes from Photoshop
- Video editing 10%
- AnyDVD and CloneDVD 5%
No gaming here, except for an occasional flight on Flight Sim (if you can call that gaming).
Here's my challenge and maybe not since there is so much knowledge here in the forum:
- Looking for Sub $100 card ($125-$140 if there's nothing that matches what I need for <$100)
- Looking for a card that will last me for the next 18-24 months without the need to upgrade.
- NOISE or lack thereof is important to me!!! I can buy a Zalman video card fan if there is a compatable card.
ANY constructive feedback or suggestions are welcome and requested!
Video and Photo processing speed is based on your main processor not your videocard.
That said a 9600gt, 4830 or 4650 should get you decent performance for under $100. If you want to go up to $150 you could look at a 9800gt, 4850 or 4670.
Tekkamanraiden - Thanks. With that in mind, should going to Vista 64 with 8 gb improve performance or should I spend the money on a quad core processor?
