Possible to disable hardware sound acceleration?

I get a constant buzzing sound, especially when I play WOW. I was told to change my sound acceleration to standard, or even turn it off completely, to eliminate the buzzing. I can't seem to figure out how to edit it though, since when I run the dxdiag there is no slider that comes up to adjust anything.

I really doubt it's a problem with sound acceleration.
