XP asking for password -- when did I set one up?

Hello, and thank for your help.
Bought a new laptop running Windows 7 and trying to connect to my old computer running XP via Home Network. NOw my old computer, which never had a password, is asking for my password. Will not even accept the admin password (blank). Don't remember entering a password EVER as I am the only user if the computer.
Tried Ophcrack but had no hashes and have no idea how to get them put in, so that was a bust.
Help?

And...tried to enter in safe mode, command prompt mode -- both sent me back to XP login page.
