I'm building a new amd PC, but I'm stuck choosing a motherboards. There are 3 chipsets that I'm stuck on, the 790GX, 790X, and 790FX. Which is the best? Which is the Newest?

The new chipsets that AMD was suppose to use for AM3 motherboard in early 2009 are RD890 and SB880 but they delayed RD890 and SB880 chipsets to 2010 and they used the old 790 series chipsets instead with their new AM3 motherboards. However, AMD did make a revision on their old 790 series chipset maybe in around 2008 but they are still old. The problem is to just wait for the new Northbridge RD890 and new Southbridge SB880 chipsets to due in 2010. The motherboard makers like ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI and etc said that RD890 motherboards will come in the early...

For the current chipsets, the high-end 790 series chipset is 790FX. If you cannot wait for RD890 and SB880 then choose the revision version of the current old 790 series chipset. The AMD roadmap had shown that one time, AMD did released revision version of 790 series chipset. Maybe Wikipedia will help you to determine which 790 series chipset is newer/a revision.

Another to look at would be the 785 chipset, there are 3 listed on newegg now. (update to the 780G series with a 4200 card onboard). The ASUS board is full ATX, and the Gigabyte and MSI are mATX.
