AMD 965BE OC with GA-MA770T-UD3 (Rev 1.1)

Hey guys.

I'm wondering how far I could OC a 965BE with this Mobo (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3297#ov).

I plan on buying a H50 CPU cooler, and I just bought a new Thermaltake V3BE case.

I'm aiming for 4Ghz..3.8Ghz atleast.

I'll be looking to run games like BC2(4xAA etc)/Fallout:NV/WoW:Cata on max settings on 1920x1080 resolution.

Also any advice on what type of fps I could expect at 24" with the 965BE @ 3.8Ghz/4Ghz even estimates would be awesome.

Other specs to help out:
Current CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 945 3.0Ghz
RAM: Microm 2GB x 2 1333Mhz
GPU: Gigabyte ATI 5850
PSU: Amacrox 750WT
OS: Win7 x64 Home Prem.

Thanks
SiNz :)

  1. Hi Sinrei and welcome to Tom's hardware forum.

For the 3.8GHz-4GHz u can go with a Hyper 212+ that is around $40 of something better like the Titan Fenrir, Megahalems or NH-D14.

The H50 isn't as good as the H70 and I'd not go with it.
  2. What type of temps do you reckon I'd be getting with that? (@ 24" Res, 1920x1080).

Atm on my current system (1024x768, max settings on everything), I get 90%+ CPU load and it runs at about 50C-55C.

I was going to go watercooling, cause it seems it'd be easier to keep my temps at this. I'd rather avoid 60C+ temps.

  3. Do u get that temps with the stock cooler?

Currently I have a Hyper 212+ with my 955 and AMD sites recommend 63C or less but my 955 has touch the 70 without problems.
  4. Yer all stock cooling atm on this system.
  5. With a cooler u can reduce the temps 12C or 15C at least.
