When do you think the 2600k will drop in price?

Probably won't drop the price, the CPU just will be replaced by the next Ivy-Bridge flagship.

Just check some flagship LGA 1136 and LGA 775 CPUs, their prices still high..

Yeah, I didn't wait for bulldozer before buying my 2500k. Good thing too, the prices went up like 20 bucks. Go figure. Also I agree with amuffin, the old chips (in this case would be the 26k), just stop getting made and become rare, and stay at the same price.

Intel will never drop prices, so you may as well buy it now, if anything inflation will ramp it up. We may be angry at Intel for this, but to be honest AMD's lack of a high end chip has created this monster.
