Hey guys,

I'm in the process of building a new computer, using an amd phenom ii x6 1055t

My hopes for this computer would be to serve as my main computer, but also be very portable seeing as I attend lan events frequently.

I'm building in The NZXT Vulcan case, which is micro ATX but supports heat sinks up to 165mm tall. However, I'm still trying to keep some space open so I can mount a 200mm fan on the side of the case.

My main concern is that most modern heat sinks built for these high performance CPU's weigh in at 800grams + And I would like to know what size heat sink i could safely carry around in a lan case without a large risk of damage to the motherboard or cpu.

Just for relevancy, here are links to the case and mobo:

Thanks for any replies!

Hello, it can be a problem since they are very heavy. Also the manufactorers generally say to remove it before moving the case :(.

The support bracket on my CNPS 10XQUIET seemed too weak for me so I used some copper wire to tie it to the top of the case. I did this from one of the heatpipes to the top fan. After this is was very solid and I am no longer scared to move my case excessively. I think this is a good solution.

Hope that helps a bit.

Yea, I found a low profile hsf that looks like it should do a good job, i'm not planning on doing any overclocking for a while, but i'm sure this little guy could handle like 10%. Anyways, I'll keep this in mind when upgrading in the future. Thanks!
