Hi there , i got a problem with very low fps in games . I tried to upgrade my parts time after time and still got problem.
My older system :
Intel quad q9300
Gigabyte x48-dq6 motherboard
4x1 OCZ DDR2 1066 ram
Axle 9800gtx graphic card
1000w lcpower psu
water-cooling
Windows xp 64-bit os
My new system :
Intel quad q9300 ( overclocked to 3.0mhz and pci-e : 110 and maybe upgrade with intel quad q9650 )
Asus rampage formula motherboard
4x1 OCZ DDR2 1066 ram ( maybe upgrade with 4x2 Corsair DDR2 1066 ram )
Zotac Geforce 280 GTX graphic card
1000w lcpower
water-cooling
Windows Vista 64-bit os
I updated my graphic card driver to 182.. and my bios update to 0701. But still got 10-20 fps in steam games ( tf2 , l4d , cs:s ) and max 50 fps in other games ( cod4 , cod5 ).
I used driver ready plus and driver clean.net for clean install driver.
What should i do know? Any idea where i got problem ?
I'm having a hard time understanding why you keep going with the expensive crossfire (ATI GPU's) X48 chipset boards and put an Nvidia GPU in them. Is there a method to this madness?
+1 to kubes questions. What resolution are you gaming at?
What are your idle and load temps for the CPU and GPU? I know you said you're water cooling, but maybe the cooling system isn't efficient or isn't working correctly.
first of all i have an stable overclock , i used memtest86 and its stable and then my resolution is 1680x1050 and my settings is medium ( cant high because game is freezing. ) ( not any aa and af )
My load temps for cpu is : 29C and gpu is : 52C
But i didn't understand that should i use ati gpu's on my motherboard?

Im not update my chipset and i think updated wrong bios. I format and reinstall windows when i update my new graphic card and motherboard.
I think there is a software problem and i never found this I'm trying to update my chipset and bios right now if its not work i'll clean install windows )
And i think maybe i connect wrong pci cables to graphic card. It says my graphic card needs minimun 40A and my psu's amper rating are :
When you install windows that doesn't update your bios. Updating your bios is a whole nother beast. Google this if you need more clarification.
For the gtx 280 it requires two plugs into it. an 8 pin and a 6 pin. Use the 12-4 rail and the 12-2 rail for the two plugs. This will give you 56 amps which makes sure your over your 40amp reqiurment.
I'm betting you that the 12-3 /12-4 and 12-1 /12-3 are logical splits. So in otherwords the 12-1 and 12-2 rails arn't actually a total of 40 amps but 20 amps split between the two of them. This probally is a good cause of the problem because as your graphics card is doing harder work in games it requires more amps which might be causing the slow down. I'd bet this is the main problem right now.
