My dell dimension 4700 is not reporting HD size correctly, 500GBb drive read as 126GB.
Does this require a bios upgrade, it is using the A10 version at present.

From another forum:
the 127/137GB only applies to Windows XP with no service pack. Once you have SP1 you can go into the Terabytes for hard drive size.

From this forum: SP1 adds 48-bit addressing to XP, allowing for drives of several terrabytes (thousands of gigabytes).

Your 1st post in this thread is solved, now ?

The 2T - plugged in...plugged in to what ? Internal / USB ?
Not recognized - Same problem you originally stated, or completely unseen in the system ?
Try to be more specific

2Tb drive is plugged into the hd bay connect to the motherboard as is the 500Gb drive. 500Gb drive read as 126 Gb and 2Tb not recognised.

Does your Motherboard support the large drive ?
You would have to update the motherboard's BIOS in order to use a large harddrive
