I just bought a new motherboard (old HP kept crashing pc), asus m3n78-vm.

The old mobo had support for the 9 pin header for the front panel.

This mobo only has support for the 20-8 pin panel.

It runs fine when i jump the power+ground. Any way i can connect the 9pin (i think its 2 wires, 4 + 5 pins) with the current (old?) slots on my motherboard.

Thanks.

cut the connector off
grab a utility knife and shave off the rubber coating of the two wires going to the power switch. careful not to cut the copper.
grab a paper clip and wrap the wire around the paperclip wire.
transfer your prewound wire onto the correct pin headers of the mobo.

tape the wire ends with some ductape to the mobo so they dont move and loose their connections.

voila!
