It could be a an old p4 with hyperthreading (i think there were a few p4's with hyperthreading with 2mb cache) but i'm guessing its this processor:

E5300

I'm basing this guess on the amount of cache you said. I'm also guessing that its overclocked to 3.00 ghz. Its hard to say with the limited information that you've given.

if you go to start > control panel > system > General tab (this is the default one) This should help give you some of your answers. This tells you the cpu you have the speed its rated for and the speed its running at.

download a program by the name of cpu-z, it will tell you all the information about your processor and ram.

edit: Single core's generally aren't good for gaming.

The reason why it appears like it is 2 core's is because it has 2 logical cores, this is caused by hyperthreading.
