Alright i have a questions

here is what i plan to do with the computer
#1 play on a monitor running 1366X768 (32 in Samsung TV) up to 720P video
#2 download from usenet Astraweb is my usenet server
#3 Move things from and to it Via a 100Mb network

So here are the questions
#1 i am looking for the best possible motherboard that supports the AMD 8650 X3
#2 am i going to need a video card to do this
#3 I would also like the motherboard to use DDR 2 800 Memory as i have an extra 4GB laying around

Keeping in mind that Linux is not totally out of the question for the new box
#4 if i do go with Linux witch would be the best

if you need any more info please feel free to let me know and i will be more than happy to provide the answers to the best of my ability

Side Note
I am looking at this CPU mainly b/c I'm getting it for 35 Bux and a free T-shirt from http://www.retailaccess.com/

Budget? Those processors are junk, especially for gaming. I'm not surprised they are giving you a free shirt to get you to buy it.

Id suggest a X3 720BE and a mobo combo from Newegg.

What are the rest of the system specs? What video card are you planning on using?

What games are you planning on playing?

Your words, "Play". Most people would assume you mean "Play" games.

You say you need a video card for this. Again, one would assume you are playing games if your getting a video card right, otherwise one would get a motherboard with onboard video.

Please forgive me for making such assumptions.

Well i thought that i made it pretty clear

#1 play on a monitor running 1366X768 (32 in Samsung TV) up to 720P VIDEO (CLUE ONE)

Keeping in mind that Linux is not totally out of the question for the new box (CLUE TWO)
How many games are there for Linux?

Reply to secolliyn

Are you trying to say that you cant PLAY games at 1366x768 in 720P?

Just because your running linux, does not mean you dont have windows on the machine also to play games now does it?

.....walks away shaking head.

^ actually the fault is on your behalf, your poor wording of the English language makes what you're trying to put out have a different meaning.

the correct wording would be:

"To view 720p video on a 1366x768 screen"
