I suppose at that res we'd be talking either 4870 or gtx 260, hrmm?

Ive looked at a few older posts comparing the two. At the stage the drivers are at now, how do they stack up?

4870 and GTX 260 are about the same, honestly. Varies from game to game. Some prefer NVidia, some prefer ATi.

Image quality wise I'd give a small toward ATI, but that could just be me. The 4870 should be plenty, as would the 4850x2 unless you don't want to deal with dual GPUs. You may want to wait for the 4890 however as it will priced to sell in the next couple of weeks.

Honestly, price will probobly decide which gpu I end up going with... I might just wait for the 4890 to knock down the 4870's price a bit, mayhaps? Or an nvidia price drop?

Blah, in any case, those are the cards im looking at to run L4D, FEAR 2, Crysis, DOW 2, Grid, etc on my 24" Sammy @ those rez's, right?
