What is a memory dump to disk

Best way, if there are no hardware issues with RAM or the motherboard or the video card causing this, re-install Windows. If you don't want to go that way, you need to try to swap out the RAM for a good stick, and test things again. Maybe uninstall and re-install the drivers for the system, do a BIOS update, run a virus and spyware scan.

When the crash happens, it should tell you what caused it, usually it's a driver file, get that info from the screen and post it.

Re-installing Windows is a much easier path to take really.

When windows encounters an extreme error it will blue screen and do a memory dump which is a log of it's current state that is written to disk. This is generally a hardware or driver problem.

In order to read the blue screen, you have to tell windows not to restart. Here is how:

1. Right click on my computer and select properties
2. Click on the "advanced" tab
3. Under startup & recovery, click the settings button
4. remove the check mark from automatically restart.
5. Click the OK button

The next time windows blue screens, it will remain on screen so you can read it.

Edited for poor spelling, lol!
