My USB key is locked out Can I write files on it and use it again?

The error message reads: Cannot copy XXXXXXX: The disc is write- protected. Remove the write-protection or use another disc.

sometimes USB thumbdrives have a locking mechanism on them. I know mine does and it has somehow locked itself. simply removing the metal USB cover/connection, reveals a tiny tab, like on the old floppy disks. move it over and you should be good to go. hopefully thats it.
