SATA Devices Not Detected

Okay, so I was on my PC yesterday, just browsing the tubes -- nothing out of the ordinary. Out of nowhere it just froze, so I hit the reboot switch on my case and waited for it to boot up. Then I got the message "DISK BOOT FAILURE, PLEASE INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND RESTART" or something along the lines of that. So I rebooted and went into the BIOS and none of my SATA drives were being detected. Two HDDs and two ROMs, none of them are detected anymore.

2x Samsung DVD-RW drives
1x WD 500GB 7200rpm
1x WD Raptor 150GB

System:

nVidia 680i
Core2Quad 6600
GeForce 8800GTX
4gb OCZ DDR2

I built this system almost 3yrs ago and it's been fine up until now.

Any ideas?

Many thanks.

More about sata devices detected
  1. My guess would be motherboard failure.
  2. Any update on what caused the issue?
