I just ran a 3dmark 06 and my score was 16380 and my 3dmark vantage was 10168. I'm baffled by the virtual pc scores of a similar set up of 18800.

I ran everything at stock settings with both 3dmarks. I overclocked my i7 920 to 3.5 which is why I chose the i7 965 which has a speed of 3.2. My driver for my 4870 is 8.582. So how do my scores fair?

The second pic: The 4870 competes with the GTX260, the 280 is way more powerful than 4870. AND, you CANNOT select i7 965. The QPI rates differ 4.8 - 6.4. either way, you cannot select i7. The second pic, there's no problem. Your score is up to the mark. Also, an i7 965 overclocked to 4 GHz can give you a CPU score of close to 50,000

If you overclock that i7 to at least 4ghz then you will probably get close to 17k on 06.

My friend built a new pc with a phenom II 940 and 1gb 4870 and got 16200 with the cpu at 3.6ghz. The interesting thing about it is, you score 2000 higher on your gpu score. Maybe you should try overclocking the 4870 and see if that helps push it up further.

Also, the 'common system' is just a total lie. Ignore it.

One question on the 3DMark06,
when i was using E7200@3.44GHz, 2X1GB DDR2-800, 2x9600GT i got around 15000~16000
(1280x1024)
then i upgraded to i7 920@3.7GHz with the same graphic card i remember i got around 21~22k (1280x1024)
aren't 4870 better than 2x9600GT ?
