Hey all,
I just got my new GA-MA785GMT-UD2H board and am trying to install the video drivers on Windows 7 (amd64).
My first attempt went sour, driver CD wouldn't install drivers claiming "OS not supported". I ended up being stuck with the Windows Generic VGA drivers which gave me very poor performance. I went to the ATI products page and they don't even have a product page for the new Radeon HD 4200 integrated chip yet. Searching google for the chip produces very low (and unhelpful) results.
So, I removed Windows 7, installed Windows XP Pro and when the driver CD started installing the graphics drivers it said it was using "ATI Catalyst 7- Series".
Here is what CPU-Z provides me:

Can anyone point me in the right direction to getting drivers installed for Windows 7 amd64?

I will pass this along to Janus Yeh, the GB tech rep at TweakTown...
I'm going to try ATI_8.634.0.0000_Win7_x86_x64.exe. I'll let you know if it works.
I would give a shot at "9-7_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu.exe" here:
http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_ [...] ws-7-64bit
they don't, indeed, yet have a selection for the 4200, but GPUs are built in 'families', and are often backward compatible...
Neither driver set worked... After a bit of googling, it looks like it's more of an issue with Catalyst Install Manager with Windows 7 rather than unsupporting drivers.
The install log says it installed with no errors, picked up the Radeon HD 4200 and everything.
Anyone know the issue I'm talking about / know the solution?

Here's my install report from ATI Install Manager:

Here's my C:\Program Files\ATI Technology directory listing (which I find interesting):

Jeez - I've done numerous installs/upgrades, starting, I think, with build 7057, through the TechNet RC (have just DL'd the RTM, & currently planning the installs...) and using 9.3 (around March?) through 9.7, and wasn't even aware there was any problem; have you tried the fix detailed here?

I'll poke around a bit more, on some of my favorite Win7 'haunts', and see 'who knows what' about this issue!
Here's something else I came across: "Well.. I had hard times and spent a lot of hours trying to make it work but nothing helped.. Today i just tried Seven's compatibility inspector and launched the installation of the 9.6 package and guess what.. all is working prefectly! I started it in compatibility with Vista Service pack 2.. Now I have no wdm driver but the one from ATI with full Catalyst support.. "

Thanks, I'll give it a try tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes.
Didn't work.
Eventually I invoked the command-line installer under Vista SP2 Compatability mode and it said that "ATIInstallationManger.msi" (not 100% sure that's correct, not looking at log) could not be verified. Then it hangs.
Looks like Gigabyte finally put up a product listing for the motherboard on their website. I'm downloading the Windows7 x64 drivers from them now, hopefully they will work.
Installed the drivers from Gigabyte's product page. Works now!!!
That was a real pain in the ass.
If any Gigabyte employees are out there, please try to have a product page available before you let Newegg sell your motherboards!
Thanks for the effort bilbat
Always welcome!

Hi, I just ran into this issue yesterday. I went the ATI site and downloaded the 4300 driver, and it worked just fine. I played half life 2 for a bit. Try that. If that doesn't work, go to gigabyteand download theirs. I am downloading this file now. ( I just reinstalled OS...complications) We'll see.
I have seen no install problems with either Cat9.7 or 9.8 - they seem to have 'cleaned up their act' (and, their interface, for that matter), on both 7RTMx86 and 7RTMx64
I have the MA785GMT-UD2H board with an HD 4650 installed (Win7 64bit RTM). I can't get the Cat9.7 or 9.8 to work. The only driver that works so far is the Windows driver that's built in. I've tried the package from Gigabyte and the ATI direct versions. Still no luck.
What, exactly, happens when you attempt to put in the 9.7 or 9.8 CCC? I've done three 7RTM installs (one x64, two x86) and will be reinstalling 64 again shortly - if I know what to watch for, I might be able to come up with something helpful...
After I install the drivers it reboots and then I get an error message saying that the drivers could not be found and the CCC won't open. I've tried loading both 9.7 and 9.8 in compatibility mode for Vista SP2 and I have tried the Vista 64 version of the Gigabyte version.
It seems as though all the drivers from Gigabyte (LAN, Audio, and VGA) fail. There appears to be a certificate issue with the drivers. FWIW, I'm running build 7600 x64.
Have you tried turning off UAC temporarily?
I got the drivers to load by disabling the certificates at boot-up using F8. I understand that I have to do this every time I boot or else the drivers will not load properly. This is really annoying - would turning off UAC do the same thing on a more permanent basis?
