Im building my first PC.
reading on the internet i found out there is incompatibility with my mobo and proc which has 780G chipset

I have a ECS BLACK SERIES A780GM-A mobo at my house which i guess i cant use
supposedly can only support proc's up to 95W TPD

i ordered a 9850 phenom x4 black edition
wattage is at 125W

i ordered 4gb ocz memory ddr2 1066
http://www.compusa.com/application [...] ET328ORDER

i ordered the following case with a 450W power supply (is this enough)
http://www.compusa.com/application [...] ET328ORDER

i want to setup raid, and have 3 PCI slots

just wondering what i should get for a motherboard thats cheap, and will work for my application
also do i neeed a better power supply
any recomendations guys?

your PSU should be fine, try an am3 motherboard so future upgrades are available, the phenom x4 are quite slow now.

Asus m4a78 Pro or Deluxe will do nicely =)

You should return that 9850 and get something else. They are very poor performers and use a lot of power. Get yourself something AM3.

does anybody have any experience with this motherboard.

im just building a budget pc to use for school and music/movies, but it would be nice to upgrade to am3.

I actually emailed ECS with a question about the 95watt TDP support for this very same motherboard. The tech told me 125watt cpu's will work, but (may) reduce the motherboard's lifespan.

i want to build this this week. like the idea of being able to upgrade to AM3. are there many choices for 125W mobo's. everything i look at only supports 95W.

Haha No problem!, It's only because I myself had the Phenom x4 and Phenom II, with those 2 motherboards and i noticed how the am3 motherboards worked also with the older phenoms
