So i plan on getting the Asus P6T Deluxe V2, heard good reviews, has good support, and it has all my needs, CF, and overclockable memory.

New to building, what i need to know is what to do once i've got everything going, do i download the latest bios, what do i do?

Download all the drivers and if everything runs fine then you dont need to update the bios.

If your installing Windows 7 RC 7100 or RTM 7600, then you won't have to do anything.
Windows 7 has all the drivers needed

Most MOBO vendors will tell you that unless you need a BIOS update to fix a specific issue, DON'T UPDATE THE BIOS. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Your MB should come with a driver CD, but the drivers on that CD may already be somewhat out of date. The CD will also usually have a lot of other BS that you may decide you don't really need as well. Personally, I just let the OS find drivers to get going, then download the updated versions from the MB MFG's website.

As far as BIOS updates, read the readme file to see what it is really fixing prior to downloading. If the readme doesn't fix an issue that you have, then leave well enough alone. Many a MB has been fubared with a BIOS flash, sometimes catastrophically...
