Thermal paste quality question

Received my hyper 212+ cooling unit for my i5 760 which I plan to do some light to moderate overclocking on.

Is it worth the 10 bucks to buy a separate thermal paste (this arctic silver 5 stuff seems to be the popular choice)???

I'm new to overclocking, I just wanna get a little extra performance out my proc. If it's a difference of like half a degree I don't care. I'd just use the paste included with the hyper 212.

Looking for input from someone with exp. in these matters...

This might help: http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=150&Itemid=62

I recommend IC Diamond. It is cheap and beats just about anything out there. I participated in a test here on these forums and was sent a tube to test with. I was very impressed with it over the Arctic Silver 5 or their Ceramique product I used to use. Also my GTX460 dropped 4 to 5C after replacing the stock paste on it.

i truly do appreciate the link and the tip... however this article is a bit daunting.

The one you recommended it currently sold out @ newegg.

that being said - how would the stock paste incl. with the hyper 212+ compare? Dont' know the make/model or whatever

That being said I'll go back to the original question... it the stock paste just crap or is it sufficient for light to moderate overclocking
