I just finished building a new Desktop PC. It has a Gigabyte MB with 2 gigs of 50Mhz ram, two 80 gig WD SATA HD's, a 2Ghz Phenom CPU and a XFx(?) video card w/ 512 Mbytes of ram. Last night when I booted up, the walpaper seemed to shimmer and then the cursor froze and the wallpaper turned a kinds of collors in a pixelated manner. The video card did not come with any heatsinks for the RAM, just a fan for the GPU. The bios says that the CPU is running at 26 C, or it did that last time everything worked properly. I checked out the monitor and it's perfect. Has anyone else had this situation? I've ordered a bigger and better video card with a decent set of heat rejection equipment (XFx 9600 w/ 716 Mbytes of RAM). Am I right in thinking that the old (5 mos) card is DOA?
