hey guys, I just installed two MSI GTX 260 core 216s. I only had time to install them and then I wanted to run 3DMark06 to see how well they perform. I only scored a 16k. I no this can't right because my two 8800 gt's were scoring 16k when they were installed. My question is do you think the cpu could be bottlenecking the 260's or do you think its the powersupply struggling? The processor is a Q9550 is running at stocks speeds right now but will be overclocked to 3.6-3.8 I just haven't had time to make sure its stable. I will try later tonight. The PSU is a ultra 750 watt and it ran the 8800 gt's ran fine with it, but im nervous the 260's are to much for it. I know the PSU is not the best and if need be I will probably replace it with a Corsair 850 watt, if you guys think that will work.
My system specs are
Evga 750 sli FTW
Q9550 @ 2.83 GHZ
6 gigs of corsair ddr2 6400
2 x 250 gig seagate hdd in raid 0
2x msi GTX 260 score 216
Antec 900
Ultra 750 watt power supply
The power supply has between 45 and 50 amps on the 12 volt rail, I cannot recall what it was at the moment.
I will run 3dmark with my new 260s and report back...
I went from barely being able to run Crysis @ 1920x1200 on minimum settings (10-15 FRAPS) to perfect, fluid motion at the same res with maxed out settings and 8x AA. I will benchmark the new FRAPS in the near future, but to my eyes it's perfect.
*edit* Old video card was a new Quadro FX1700.

I just ran it with the cpu overclocked to 3.6 and it scored a 18959 so it seems like it is running alright. I'm installing FarCry 2 to see how that runs right now.
Scores on 3d mark are pretty much pointless and that is why I recommended using fraps and games to really see what you are getting. Anyone can manipulate their system and score great on 3d mark but have crappy real world performance.
