I will start with the system specs.
Windows Vista x64 Ultimate
Intel Core i7 920 stock clocks, speedstep is disabled as is c1e and c state
Asus P6T
6 GB of OCZ DDR3 1600 Timings: 8-8-8-24 triple channel
Nvidia 9800 GT (plan to upgrade in about 6 months)
Currently I have two WD Caviar Black drives in a Raid 0 config.
Bios 0403
Now here is the story/problem. Originally I had a single 300 GB Velociraptor (waste of cash) last Saturday it died after 5 months of use. I took it back to BestBuy (Yes I know but they had a good deal at the time. Cheaper than newegg) and they gave me store credit. After switching from the single Velociraptor to the raid array a couple of odd things happened. Memory performance seems to have been reduced and my cpu performance seems off now too. Disk performance on the other hand is about 2 times, if not more, faster than the raptor as expected.
I have the CPU and memory configured exactly as it was before nothing else has changed. Just the storage config.
Unfortunately the only memory/cpu benchmark I had used before the swap extensively was 64 bit passmark so right now its all I have to go on. No matter how many times I run the test the CPU scores, although only slightly, are worse now then they where at the same speed before and some of my memory scores look even worse.
Here are the charts after the test. Green bars are the machine as it is now. Blue bars are the machine as it was before the change and the red bar thrown in for reference is a Phenom II based system at 3.3 ghz with 8 GB of DDR2 800 in a dual channel config.
