Hello,
First off im new to the community so im sorry if this is in the wrong area. But i have a case fan that ive been using for five years. Then when i came home from school today it was not working. So what i did is plug it in to my other 3 pin on my mobo and it worked so i thought it must have been the three pin that was the problem. Buttt....i plugged in my old CPU fan to the 3 pin that i thought wasnt working and it worked and is running right now. WTF IS GOING ON???
Your five year old fan either wasn't making good contact with the 3 pin connector or its getting towards the end of its life cycle and becoming intermitten.
The lubrication can dry out if the fan uses sleeve bearing. Does the fan (which you thought failed) feel hard to spin with fingers?

no its not really hard to spin with fingers, its seems normal to me. but i just think its weird that i switch fans with their 3 pins and they both work instead of just the 1. i might just get a new fan, they are pretty cheap.
