My new cpu cooler

Hi, i just installed an Asus artic square cpu cooler and i find that my temperatures are all the same as they were with the intel stock cooler. Is this normal? If i had any temperature drop, it's 1-3 degrees.

What is the CPU in question?
What were/are the temperatures idle and under load?
Did you clean off the CPU contact area and apply thermal paste? (Latter is irrelevant if thermal paste is pre-applied.)

im getting
47 42 48 48 on idle (speedfan)
underload should be in the high 50's

oh and speedfan says cpu :20 but the cores are 47 42 48 48

Idle temp temps won't change much. They are closely tied to the ambient temperature. Load temps are where you should see changes.

and yeah i cleaned the contact area with a cofee filter. then applied pea size amount of asus thermal paste.
