I have a 12' mesh dish and a General Instrument 450i receiver that I
bought 3 years ago. Soon after, the channels I wanted became available
on cable and I decided (also for other reasons) to abandon the
satellite system.
Things have changed again and I would like to find out if it's still
possible and/or beneficial to re-activate my system. Cable is costing
about $60 CDN per month.
What can I do to pickup most of the satellites at the cheapest price?
And, can I hook up more than one TV to the signal?

Depends on what you want to watch and if it is available either by
what can seen by the dish, or what isn't scrambled in your Canadian
location.
Go to http://www.lyngsat.com/ and look around what's "Free To Air"!

A great number of what used to be fta has either gone off C band or gone to
digital mostly receivable by the 4DTV. NPS had a deal going to purchase one
for around $500 something with some free movie channels. It's a great
receiver.
