2nd build, compatibility issue?

This is my 2nd time building a computer and it has been about 4 years since the last build, I'm unsure about the compatibility of everything so please help. The main thing i am worried about it MB & processor and the NIC being able to fit on the MB.

Also it would be great if someone could recommend a power supply that would support this build, i want to buy another gtx 260 in the near future, so keep that in mind.

Everything looks good compatibility wise.

I would suggest dropping the 1066 RAM, and finding some good DDR2 800 like these

You also don't need the NIC card. The board will have it build in.

Well first of all, you chose the P45 chipset, which only allows xfire, not SLI. So if you want to be able to run a dual GPU setup, get a HD 4870 instead.

Secondly, that Mobo only has room for 1 GPU (only 1PCIEx16 slot). If you want to run xfire, go for the GA-EP45-UD3P

The Velociraptor drive is not that much faster than 7200rpm drives, Try a Seagate 7200.12 500gb drive for a cheap and fast drive. the .12 generation drives should have the firmware fixed from the previous generation so apparently seagates are safe again. Getting this drive will greatly reduce the cost, and you can put that money into a Q9550, which will be a good upgrade.

Wow thanks alot for the advice it was really helpful in the decision making. I think I am going to go with the PC Power & Cooling S75QB 750W ATX12V / EPS12V CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply for my PSU for the purpose of xfire later on.

I'll probably change to the GPU and MB you advised so xfire capabilities are possible, but i'm still partial to a velociraptor. I'll do a little more research on the advantages of a velociraptor to see if its worth the price, but again thanks for the advice it was beyond helpful.

Two questions though.

Question 1: And is the DDR2 800 better for my proccessor is that why it was reccomended over the 1066? I read a little about differences between the two, but the only things I read about was the differences it made when overclocking. BUT even in the differences shown it seemed marginal in terms of performance, but I still remained confused. So if anyone could shed a little light on that I would greatly appreciate it.

Question2: Secondly, I was looking into the Q9550 great suggestion since the cut in price of the velociraptor would cover the upgrade to this, but for 11$ more the i7 920 Nehalem is available. But does the MB support this? And what would the differences be? One of the differences I came to was hyperthreading, but I'm not overly technologically savvy so an explaination would be amazing if someone was willing to give their time to put it into understandable terms. Thanks in advance!!

Or get a 15k drive or ssd since a 128gb ssd won't be much more than a velociraptor.

I know. You would think a 500GB per platter would have amazing performance. I guess Seagate's current problems are more than skin deep. The conclusion page even says one of their two sample drives died.
