I am planning on upgrading to p45 plat, and wanted to use the CCF 120 or 92 on this board. Sunbeam claims it will fit, but I have doubts, as a coworker told me "Its really big" and the northbridge heatsink on the board is bigger than RuPaul's hair.

Can anyone verify that it works 100%? I want to order today.

Thanks

Well go to newegg and look at the pictures of the board layout. If the northbridge and capacitors are away from the socket, you'll be ok.

It was a nightmare on my 965. I had to cut 2 fins off my nb heatsink, no easy task with the mobo in the case. I dont know how I didnt damage the nb.

I also had to slightly bend 2 capacitors to get the clip on the other side. I'm pretty sure I'll never get it back off without destroying the mobo.

I really think it would have been easier if I removed the motherboard because I couldnt even get my fingers between the side of the case and the heatsink to get the clip on, I had to push it hard with a screwdriver, which was risky, but it worked.

Just want to throw in that Sunbeams customer service is non-existent.

My fan controller was doa and I cant get the heatsink back off to send it back to newegg so I contacted them by email twice in the last 2 weeks about a replacement fan controller and never even got a response.
I ended up buying another CCF from Newegg, I'm gonna swap the fan controllers and send it back. Still waiting for it to arrive.

I actually got a response from sunbeam CS within a day. He said it would work. I saw the same pic with the caps, it seems iffy, so that's why I was asking.

I emailed tech support 10 days ago and still no response on the doa fan controller. I emailed them again last Thurs., again no response. So I left a review on Newegg about their crappy tech support. Take that bastards!

Update:
I got to installing my new parts this weekend. Well, it was a PITA. The clips on the heatsink were being blocked by the chipset cooling system, so I had to improvise. On the CCF, there are two tabs that push the clips onto the frame, which is mounted to the motherboard. I had to break one of the clips off, so it wouldn't hit the mosfet sink, but I still ended up having to bend the mosfet cooler section. Can't tell it's bent, but it means no return on the board if it breaks...

Temps at 3.6ghz with q6600 are 50* at load (3dmark vantage x 10 times). Nice. I like the board too, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a p45 board.
