Incoming attachments

Hello,
Incoming Outlook Email attachments have a Word icon but are PDF, how do I change Outlook so it reconises what the type of attachments are?

Hello and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums.

I can't believe I'm defending Outlook but in this case, it's innocent.

In Control Panel>Folder Options>File Types, scroll through the list to .pdf then click to change to whchever you use to open them and the icon for that programme should come with it. I recommend Foxit - a small but efficient utility that takes up a fraction of the space and resources Adobe's software uses.
