I am getting a new computer soon and these are the parts I plan to buy.

Motherboard: ASUS P6T Deluxe Maybe the OC palm version as the little tool you get seems helpful

Processor: Core I7 920, I plan on overclocking to around 3.8-4ghz

Ram: Corsair Dominator 6GB 3x2 1600 mhz triple channel

GPU: EVGA GTX 295 w/ Backplate

PSU: atm I have a Thermalright 850W TR2 RX series 4 rails 60 amps i think... Any thoughts as to this being sufficient for this system?

HD: I had a couple lucky finds Either 1 or 2 Sea Gate Savvio SAS 15k rpm 73 gb hd and maybe something else for storage if i need it

CPU Cooler: Planning on the Thermalright ultra -120 extreme but will go one step down if i cant find it

Monitor: I am not buying a new monitor I currently own a Samsung 1600x1200 monitor I think its like a syncmaster or something

Case: Don't need one

What do you guys think?

Seriously decrease your GPU if you're sticking with 1600x1200. That GPU will dominate 1900 res, and you can definitely afford to cut some cash if you won't utilize the GPU at all.

Maybe a nice Geforce-2 64 bit?

No, seriously though, you can afford to take it down a notch and not blow ~500$ on that card.

So you think it's worth $300 to get an extra 4fps?

Skip the SAS, go with Caviar Black 640.

Only reason im sold on the SAS is they are pretty much the fastest HDs on the market and i found them 100 bucks each. I dont store too much information on my computer and i am looking for the highest performance i can get. In the benchmark i linked the extra 4 fps was from 2 gtx 260s so that would be approx the same price.

Oh yeah im upgrading from 2x 9800 GTs. So the performance difference will be huge from what i have seen. Currently my cards cannot go on high without lagging/dipping into the 20fps range.

Missed that, still $100 more though. A GTX 285 is plenty for that resolution.

$100 is something that i am willing to spend partially because I dont want to go with a multicard solution as i have had many problems with them. i would have to upgrade with an extra gtx 285 everntually and i dont want to do that. I am look for the most efficient single card solution and the GTX 295 appears to be it.
