Hello,
I have cloned the HD in my Toshiba laptop to a WD elements 120gb external drive. Can I open the case of the WD external(plastic with no screws) and remove the HD for use in the Toshiba?

Pete

You could, as long it's the same type as in your laptop ie; your laptop has a sata drive and the WD elements is sata drive.
I have no idea how that one comes apart, you will need to be carefull extracting it.
Here's some videos on the subject.>

Hi there,

You can take the enclosure apart, but the 2 1/2" drive is not going to have the mounting components on it to just slip it into your laptop HDD slot the way a HDD specifically made for the Toshiba laptop would. Also you may find a SATA to USB converted PCB attached to the data connections that will need to be removed.
