Hey guys,

I'm building a new core i7 system with one 4870, and plan to crossfire in the future. Any recommendations on a solid PSU? The build is looking like:

Intel i7 920 D0
2x Radeon HD4870 (Xfire)
Asus P6T
6GB OCZ Platinum 1600
Antec 900
WD 500GB 7200RPM HD
Xigmatech Dark Knight
Random Optical Drive

I've been looking at the PCP&C 750W, but I've been wondering if I should go with Corsair's 850W instead. Other recommendations are welcome as well. Thanks in advance!

You might need that much power. Go with a 650W PSU instead. Have you tried playing around with the PSU calculator?

I'd go with the Corsair.

This would fit the bill.

4x 6+2 Pin PCI-E power connectors. Technically for under $100 after the rebate, instant off rebate, and free shipping.

Just found thisas well. 80+ Certified as well. Still under $100 with promo.

The Corsair 750 would be a great choice, as would the 850.

Hi!

Will this http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/product.php?id=NjU 500W PSU be enough, If I bought only one hd4870. I am planning to buy a very similar pc set like cdnchemist but I am not sure of the PSU.

Antec Sonata III case comes with that PSU and it's quite cost effective. Of course I could buy that Sonata case with no PSU and buy more powerful PSU but it would not be so cost effective.

Thank you, I hope you will reply!

The PC P&C 750w will ravage that system and more. It is slightly higher quality than the Corsair 750TX and every single one has been stress tested before being put on the shelf so a DOA is almost impossible.

That power supply will do fine with a single 4870.
