I have 16 files stuck in Activesync that say they are "unsynchronized". No
matter how many times I try to resync them, the error messages won't clear.
However, there are no issues with these files. They reside on both my
desktop PPC My Documents folder as well as the appropriate folders on my
iPAQ 4155.
If I delete the files from the desktop, it deletes them from the iPAQ, but
still reports that 16 items are unsynchronized. I copied some of these back
into the PPC My Documents folder from backup and they synchronized back to
the PDA without issues, but still the same unresolved error.
In fact, after doing that things are even stranger. It still says 16 files
unsynchronized, but when I double-click on it to view the files its not even
the same exact 16 files from before. Some of them are the ones that I had
deleted and then put back. The rest are just image files that I happened to
have moved from the storage card to the My Documents folder so they would
show up in the Today app.
I can't for the life of me figure out what could possibly be "wrong" with
these files. I see no options anywhere to "force" the Desktop or PDA to
override the other. Does anyone have any ideas?
In a separate question, but related to ActiveSync for files, where can I
place a file that I want sync'd to the storage card the next time I sync? I
know I can place files in the PPC My Documents to have them placed in RAM
later, but how do I set this up for the storage card? What I want to do is
have PocketTV Browser place its data file on the card. That program runs
periodically to create data files, often without my PDA being attached to my
computer.

Try doing a soft reset just before the sync. I've had problems trying to
sync files that were locked and this fixed them.

Thanks for the tip. The concept makes sense. I just tried it and I still
have the 16 files unsynchronized. So I have some additional clarifying
questions to try to track things down.
I see now that when I double-click on the Files item in ActiveSync that it
shows me ALL files on my iPAQ. Thus, I have 47 files (excluding the .pwi
files that the Notes app keeps in sync). There are 47 files, then, in my PPC
My Documents folder on the desktop. So its showing me all files, not just
the 16 that it can't sync.
So, how do I even figure out which 16 files can't sync? Is it possible that
these 16 files are actually mail attachments that can't sync due to Pocket
Word not being very good? The reason I ask is that I did get some errors on
attachments in the past and all my non-attachment (47 files) are sync'd up
just fine between the PC and iPAQ.
If its email attachments, then I have another problem which is that all of
the sudden the email sync stopped working. It appears that ActiveSync can't
read from my Outlook inbox any more. I haven't changed anything with this,
it just stopped working one day after the series of attachment conversion
errors.
Thanks for sticking with me on this!

No need to thank me, especially since I cannot stick with this having
exhausted my knowledge on the subject. :-)
