I am wondering if ATI 4870 1gig would work well with E5200 cpu, or would the cpu bottle neck the gpu.

The reason I am doing this is because I want to build a budget computer with an expensive and powerful gpu for gaming. I don't know if it is good idea, and yes, I am new to the DIY world.

It won't be a bottleneck if you overclock your CPU a bit. The E5200 is a good overclocker so it wont be hard.

How fast should I be OCing E5200 to for the ATI 4870 to perform well?

I am considering buying ASUS P5Q SE PLUS LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard to go with the system

That mobo is probably overkill.

You may bottleneck a little bit but you should overclock it to around 3GHZ to see some GREAT results.

That motherboard should be good for it. Yeah you need to overclock your 5200 to at least 3 GHz. There is a chance you can get significantly more out of it, but it just depends on the sample you get.

That motherboard is good, wanna be sure you have a stable system when overclocking. Should be able to get over 3 with good board and cooler
