I want a computer under $400 that can play ghost recon 2 and cod4. Is this possible? I was reading and read about EVGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 750i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard for $130 and the e7300 cpu. Would that be a good choice, or too expensive considering the cost of the rest of the comp?
Sorry if double post. For some reason the function on the right didnt seem like it worked with firefox.
get a G31 chipset mobo with E5200
then a 30~40bucks cooler like xigmatek S1283 which performs very good for that price
then OC it to like around 3.4~3.6 thats quite enough for modern games
if u already have a monitor and misc stuff like keyboard speaker mouse
u might get a ATI4770 or GTS250 (not sure about the pricing i think is around 100~120usd)
then a decent PSU with at least 400w true power like the corsair VX450
Just noticed I forgot to answer about the 7750. The buzz has them pushing 3.2Ghz, but considering its based on 65nm Phenom, I wouldnt expect it to go much past that.
If your not in a hurry to build, there should be some AthlonII X2 chips comming available in the coming weeks, these should perform better and be able to OC into the 3.6-4.0Ghz range.
I guess I should ask do you need a case, keyboard, mouse, monitor, cd/dvd or OS? Or do you already have those things
* If you can at all manage to afford an extra $20 I would highly advise either using a Radeon 4770 or the upcoming Radeon 4730 instead of the 4830, I put this in to keep the price low it's equivalent to a 9800GT.

Im not in a hurry. Just researching b4 the buy. Trying to keep the cost low but be able to play the newer games and hopefully games to come. I should mention that I need a case. Shouldnt be hard to find, but suggestions welcome . I just have an old dell crt, but I will upgrade after I buy the rest. I dont burn things much, but the old ones from my older dell comps will do, along with the keyboard and mouse until I save up some more$$.
The E5200 seems like it overclocks better, but I think AMD is the way to go price wise. I heard Intel runs cooler do u think thats true? With a $20-30 cooler I dont think it would matter that much tho?
Ty Dustpuppy that seems like a good setup also!

I would go with the Phenom II X2 550, even if it is 40 bucks more than the 7750. The 45nm Phenom II architecture is very nice, and you should grab some nice OCs with that puppy.
+1 for 45nm. What I wanna know are where are the AthlonIIs?
Athlon II is pretty much in that no-mans land. With the Phenom II duals only costing $15 more they are hardly worth consideration. They aren't bad, they just need to be another $15 cheaper.
For a $400 build, you don't need SLI unless you're gonna put in at least 2 GTX 260s. An e5200 paired with a 9800 GT is suitable for Cod4, even Crysis on medium rez.
After instant savings and rebate the new PhenomII x2 550 w/ASUS mobo = $159 . I have read several articles were this chip is seeing 3.7 GHz+ . Should that kind of overclock be expected with this set-up ? Is the south bridge and/or stock cooler going to limit overclock ? Seriously what should be expected ?
