I get a message on my toolbar that I have updates to download. I have tried several times and one of the downloads is SP 3. It will partially download thaen I get message on my screen saying "access denied".What could be the problem. Can I do something that will not give me this message? Is it a big deal to have the SP 3 download?

Sounds like what I might do if the OS doing the dl wasn't activated or genuine. Only I'd wait until 98% or so :)

Seriously, other than that - or not meeting some other requirement for the download - I can't guess.

Download SP3 directly from MS (not through their service).
