My system: i7 920 and GTX 260 both at stock speeds.

With Physx off
GPU 9172
CPU 17420
Score 10403

This was run in all default preset Performance settings. For my newly built system those scores seem kinda low. Any idea why?

Low as compared to what? Looks about normal for your setup.
Compared to the system on the page, your processor is only at about half the speed, and the GPU in the test system compared to yours is 4 times the card you are using.
