The short answer is yes. There are several things to consider in adding a SATA HDD to your computer however.
First is speed. The 8300 came with 512 MB of DDR-333 RAM, so adding a fast secondary SATA will not make it faster, it will give you disk storage space for saving your data, and a place to backup your OS & data on the primary IDE drive.
Second is how to connect the SATA drive.
Your MB does have 3 SATA connectors on it, so with an 18" data cable, it can be connected from the SATA HDD to the motherboard. You also need a Molex 4 pin to SATA power connecter to add the 12V and 5V it needs to spin up and run the electronics. Only a couple dollars and readily available. You will also need to go to the BIOS System setup, and make sure the SATA controller is "Enabled".
As an alternative, you could purchase a "PATA to SATA" adapter, by Startech or PAPA on amazon ($12-$20), plug that into the connector section on the back of the SATA HDD, then just plug the IDE Secondary connector and a Molex 4 pin power connector (both already on your computer) directly into the PCB. That would give you your Pri IDE OS drive and Sec IDE Data drive. Would leave the second IDE header as presently connected for you DVD burner.
