Just got an ASUS P5Q Deluxe for a system rebuild, the board has an 8pin connector for 12v ATX, however the supply I have only has a 4pin P4 connector for 12v ATX. The MOBO manual says it needs a v2 ATX supply, and the box says the supply is v2.3, so I figured it would work. Will the 4 pin suffice or do I need a new supply with an 8 pin connector?

Cheers

The P5Q Deluxe comes with a cover over 4 pins on the 8-pin connector. The 4-pin plug from your PSU will work just fine. Just leave the cover in place and plug the 4-pin connector into the 4 pins closest to the CPU socket.

Nope, no cover on mine, but I checked some pics online and you're right, it is supposed to have one, thanks for the help
