Equation Editor

Hello,
I can normally get equation editor to work on my homework assignments but this time it will not. Is there a way to force equation editor to work?

Uninstall and reinstall. Go to Ms Office in Add/Remove from control panel.
Click change. On the new window click add/remove features.
Expand the Office tools list. There you can select the equation editor, then click update.
