With windows 7 around the corner I was wondering if I should go with the 64 bit or 32. My cpu is a core duo 2.8ghz i believe(its oc'd), I believe that is a 64 capable cpu. Anyway the only advantage I can see to the 64 bit os is more ram.
But why would you intentionally get win7 32bit? Win7 64bit will work just the same (as far as I know, ie looking at vista 32 vs vista 64). I assume they will be similarly priced. I dont see a reason why you should limit yourself to 32bit. And yes, your processor can handle 64 bit, and is backwards compatible to 32.

I use 8GB in Vista Ultimate for the purpose of turning off the page file. I have a Q6600 overclocked, dual raptors in raid 0, 8gb ddr2, and with the page file turned off games pretty much send directly to the RAM. I havent had any problems, and I typically dont use more than 5-6GB while gaming (L4D, CSS, Fallout 3) and multitasking in the background. Win 7 32bit and 64bit should be same price and probably on same disc. I say go for it, whats to lose with more ram and 64bit? Just be sure to check for drivers for all your stuff before hand.
