Can someone with more cooling knowledge then me, which is almost everybody, recommend be a decent heatsink for a socket 775 lga board? I want to do a mild OC on my Wolfdale E6500 and dont want to use the stock heatsink that came with my Dell 530s. I would like to try to get something lower cost that will do the job, I dont think I need anything too much since my CPU is a dual core and I will only be taking it from about a 2.93 to probably between a 3.3-3.5ghz OC. Thanks for any answers.

The size is fine, just when comparing to my stock dell heatsink it seems huge. The removing the mobo part should not be a problem since I am also getting a new mobo at the same time since you cant OC a dell, so I will have to put it all together again anyways. This is the mobo I plan on gettin if anyone is interested. This will be my first OC.

The only advantage I see when ordering from Amazon is that it has free shipping. But from what I understand Newegg has good customer service, and that is more important to me then saving a few dollars. Though I could be wrong though.

In the famous gigabyte colors! :)
It is large. Make sure you case has the room, or you'll have to dremel the side panel - then it would stick out the side, which could look cool.

Edited here: Go ahead and save the shipping charge - it's about $7.

I will measure my case to make sure everything is good to go. I was also considering this mobo since this is only my first OC and I dont want to get too fancy

Thing is it is a pci express 1.0 and I have a gtx 260 which usues a 2.0, and I have heard some people say that will cause problems and others say that it will be fine, so I thought I would play it safe and use the board the comes with 2.0.

I would be lying if I said if I really understood any of the features beyond it will let me OC and is compatible with my cpu. Besides letting me OC, I dont even know what other benefits upgrading my mobo is going to give me really. I understand the whys and hows of upgrading a gpu, or a cpu, or a psu, but not so much a mobo.

Well usually aftermarket coolers are a lot larger and better then stock coolers. The Hyper 212+ weighs about 1.4lbs so it is pretty big. But its tiny compared some others like a Noctua DH-14 or a Cooler Master V10 which are pulling well over 2lbs

Everyone on these forums started somewhere, and for many it has become a hobby. It sounds like you know some about the components, but you haven't OCed before. Both boards are reasonably-priced. The EP-43 likely has more BIOS settings than you can use to OC. Go to the board's support page, download the manual here and read it before you buy the board. Especially the section on the BIOS settings. Read the sticky on OCing 775s here at Tom's.

If you are going for a low profile cooler then go for something else....... the cooler yopu have shown will be bit noisy in medium to full speed.......... considering your CPU and your OC levels, i would suggest the following for about the same price but with 120mm fan if height is the concern for you........

Thanks for the reply. I actually decided to not go with such a cheap case as the nzxt m59, and instead decided to go with this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119224 I think it looks a lot better and comes with 2 200mm fans and a 120mm, so I should be good for airflow. That Zalman you linked caught my eye. It looks like a good heatsink and it might outperform the hyper 212+, and I think the blue led would go great with my case. I might end up picking that up, thanks again.
