I am torn between the e8500 from intel or the AMD phe2 955. I will be using it for a gaming application with 8 gigs memory, still deciding mobo but it will be a higher quality, the 4870 1gig ati gpu, 500g 7200 drive.

I have been struggeling with this for some time, if you could please give me some opinions with an explanation of why you chose what you chose. I am not a big fan of overclocking, so more than likely these will sit on the board stock.

Thanks in advance

You are the man, thanks for the quick reply, i'll definatly go with the 955... As far as overclocking goes, do i run a risk of shortening the life span? This processor comes stock @ 3.2ghz and i know you can take it to 4.5+ but will i really gain anything? Most i'll do is run a game @ 2560x1024 i think it is, then run out to a 1080p tv with a tv tuner. Not sure if tht is more than the quad can handle but seems like a small task mostly delagated to the gpu.

Thanks again

Jeremy
