Bios update

Hello, I would like to know how to update my BIOS Award Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG, P4M900-M7 SE (4M90M802 BSA)from Phoenix Technologies Ltd.

I tried by going into the Phoenix website but they are charging me, is there a way to do it for free since I already paid for their product?

Hi Grumpy 9117, thanks very much for your response. I downloaded the Bios Utility from the link provided by you http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/bios.php?S_ID=289 and ran the setup.exe file but I dont quite understand how to update the Bios. When i try to update im asked to choose a file to update the Bios and I dont know with which file should i update it.

You need both the bios utility and the bios file which is the top most .bsa file. When it asks for the bios file, you can then select the .bsa file.

Why are you updating the bios? To fix a current problem? If your system is running fine, there should be no need to update the bios. If you do update, make sure not to reboot your computer until the bios update is complete or you will completely hose your system.

oh i understand now, thanks hawkeye22. And i want to update the bios because i want to be able to boot from a usb key and my current bios is not giving me the option to do it. I dont know if that is going to fix my problem. I hope so. Thanks for your help.

I doubt it will add that option. The web site only lists a very short description, To support FSB 1066 CPU. So it looks like it's just to support newer CPU's that run at 1066 bus speed.
