what is the recommended settings in crysis and crysis warhead for an MSI 3870X2 OC to be able to play it smoothly in 1280x1024? i am experiencing falling frame rates.

have the game use the default settings for your chip, then, if you think it can handle more, try raising the settings, if it lags too much, lower the settings. It just takes time and a little patience to get the right settings for your computer
