CPU Temps & TIM

I bought some Shin Etsu X23 TIM from Frys yesterday, and tried it out today. However, the first time, my temps were 34C idle and 46C load compared to 31C with AS5 and my stock paste. Thinking I screwed up the installation, I removed the paste and tried again, this time with half as much used. However, the result was the same: 34C idle. I applied my TIM's with a rice-sized bit on the middle of the CPU IHS. My CPU is an Athlon II X4 620 overclocked to 3.2 Ghz at 1.33 vCore. Should I give the paste time in case it has to cure or did I mess up on something? Thanks.

I would give the paste time to cure. I have my i5 running from 3.33GHz to 4.16GHz and its in the mid 20s idle and runs upto 67* on Prime95 on the heat torture test with my coolermaster V6GT.

I am using Artic Silver 5 thermal compound tho.
